Typically, from the time we get appointed by an Organising Committee, we spend 18-24 months working with them, our Logistics partner and our manufacturing base on the planning and execution in the lead up to the Opening Ceremony of a major event. However even before the flame goes out at a Closing Ceremony, our team has already started our Bump Out operation.
And so it was in Tokyo that while many Olympic athletes were still getting ready to begin their events, we started the process of going into venues to start removing our FF&E. A Bump Out happens in an incredibly short window compared to the way in, usually completed in no more than 3-4 months. Every single item needs to be collected, Quality Control checked, palletised ready for transport and removed from the Venue.
We then receive our FF&E back at a central warehouse where we prepare it for shipment to our dissolution partners around the world.
While our Bump Out operation may have begun, this is only the halfway point of Tokyo 2020. Everyone at RGS Events is incredibly excited to cheer on the athletes at the Tokyo Paralympic Games which starts on the 24th of August. Good luck to all the Athlete’s at the upcoming Paralympic Games and congratulations to everyone involved in what was an amazing Olympic Games.
