Launch of the B2022 Queens Baton Relay

Last week Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games launched the Queen’s Baton Relay. Jon Parker, our B2022 Account Manager represented RGS Events at Buckingham Palace at the launch. As part of the special ceremony Her Majesty placed a message inside the Baton which will be read aloud at the Birmingham 2022 Opening Ceremony next year.

The Baton will travel for 294 days, across 140,000 kilometres while travelling through all 72 Commonwealth nations and territories before returning to Birmingham for the start of the Games. The Baton for B2022 which was designed in the West Midlands is quite amazing, featuring ‘smart technology’ including a 360-degree camera, heart rate monitor, LED lighting and GPS tracking.
