Legacy at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games

Leaving a lasting legacy in Birmingham, is something we focused on during the earliest stages of the tender bid for this major, multi-sport event. With proper planning, there is an amazing opportunity to add value at a local level, through our engagement as a Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment provider.

Typically, we manufacture everything brand new for an event of this scale and take it all back at the end, as part of our dissolution process. We then find a new home for all the FF&E which, for the most part, is still in ‘as new’ condition, having only been used for a few months.

This gives us a fantastic opportunity to identify suitable local charities we can partner with, who have a real need for good quality furniture after the event.

During the tender process for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games we engaged with two local Birmingham charities - CT Transport and Help Harry Help Others.

We’re pleased that through our engagement with Birmingham 2022 we are able to support two amazing local charities by providing them with FF&E donations at the end of the Games.

CT Furniture

CT Furniture is a West Midlands based charity that works to provide people and families with access to affordable furniture. The charity relies on donations, and these items are either reused by the local community or resold through their network of shops or via the online store.

As part of RGS's Birmingham 2022 legacy, the global supplier will be donating hundreds of quality products to CT Furniture after the Games, including beds, mattresses, and bedside drawers. RGS are proud to support the amazing work the team at CT Furniture do for the local community all year round.

HelpHarryHelpOthers Cancer Charity

'Help Harry Help Others’ is a cancer support charity that was started by Harry Moseley before he lost his battle with cancer in 2011 aged just 11 years old.

Due to the impact that cancer had on their family, his mom Georgie decided to continue with Harry's incredible work and made HHHO a registered cancer charity in 2012 so she could help other families who need more support.

Help Harry Help Others are well-loved across Birmingham - supporting more than 900 families, despite only being a small team.

RGS will be renovating the Help Harry Help Others support centre with upgraded furniture from the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. RGS Events are proud to help, in any small way, the incredible work this charity does for the local community all year round.
